Despite recent outcry regarding developments in the north of the island, revised proposals for housing on the ‘triangle field’ near Alliance have been put forward, and are now facing backlash from parish constables.
Original proposals included up to eight houses, scaled down to six in July 2019.
The new plans reduce that number to two, and include a rebuilt granite wall and provisions to widen the nearby traffic junction and improve visibility.
However, parish residents and douzeniers alike have been up in arms about developments in the north of the island recently.
Vale and St. Sampson’s constables have called for the Development & Planning Authority to consider public need when approving developments, and not just follow their policy guidelines.

Vale constables don't meet in August, but Senior Constable Richard Leale said they maintain their objections to D&PA’s "piecemeal" approach to planning, adding “we are firmly of the view that no new housing should be considered on greenfield sites until the much more suitable Leale’s Yard has been developed".
The Vale Douzaine Room has publicly shared details of the plans to the parish website because of "the opposition there had been to earlier proposals".
Members of the public still have a chance to comment on the proposals, but all opinions must be submitted by 31 August.
