Don't panic: path cleared to Sark pub!

Thursday 01 March 2018

Hardy drinkers in Sark don't need to worry too much about the path to one of their local pubs being slippery in the snow, as the landlord has ensured the way has been salted to try and make it as safe as possible!

Mark Pontin who runs the Bel Air sent Express a series of photos showing that Sark has received a fair covering of snow this week and yet residents are keeping their sense of humour.

The Avenue is as peaceful as many people would expect for early March, with few people venturing out on their bikes.

The snow has accumulated even deeper elsewhere in the island, with the road towards Stocks Hotel well covered. Most hotels in the island are closed for the winter but staff at Stocks have posted on social media to say they have been as busy as ever with lots of work going on in the hotel gardens as well as inside in the warmth over recent weeks.

Sailings to Sark have been disrupted by the weather this week, with strong winds to contend with as well as snow. The cargo sailing on Thursday 1 March was cancelled with future sailings to be assessed on the day.

Elsewhere in Sark, work is continuing!
