The Guernsey Party has bolstered its ranks with the addition of Deputy Liam McKenna to its parliamentary group.
The States' Assembly & Constitution Committee Member, who finished 11th in the island-wide election as an independent candidate, has decided to join the political party.
"I followed the development of the Guernsey Party closely throughout the election and spent time talking with their members and attending husting events," he said of the decision.
"It has become increasingly obvious to me that we share the same outlook and objectives and that there is much to be gained by working together and supporting one another as part of the Guernsey Party. I particularly like the way in which they are working to generate consensus in the new assembly."

Deputy Helyar, the Guernsey Party's parliamentary leader, said the group is not "actively campaigning" for new members, but found that Deputy McKenna shared many of the same values and principles that the party stands for.
"We are delighted to welcome Liam into the party group. We could see from early in the election that our views were closely aligned and importantly that we have a common objective of working collaboratively with everyone in the house," he said.
"We are not actively campaigning for more members - in order to assuage public concern about domination of the house we are altering our constitution to limit our candidates and parliamentary membership to a maximum of 15 persons at any time, meaning that The Guernsey Party cannot hold an absolute majority."
