President of the Committee for Home Affairs, Deputy Mary Lowe, said: “A career in frontline public service comes with its own unique set of challenges and rewards. These Long Service Awards may be a small token of our appreciation but they also come with a big thank you for the commitment shown by the recipients in keeping our island and islanders safe. Guernsey is better place because of their hard work over many years.”

The Lieutenant-Governor said: "It’s a pleasure to present long service medals to these 25 Officers, whose job it is to keep us safe. Their work is vital and challenging, and it’s fitting that their longstanding loyalty and professionalism are recognised. They and their families can rightly feel proud of their service both to Islanders and to the Bailiwick."

Head of Law Enforcement Ruari Hardy said: “Across Bailiwick Law Enforcement and other public services officers and staff work tirelessly and sometimes in challenging circumstances to ensure Guernsey remains a safe and secure place in which to live and work. It is important to recognise the long service and commitment of these members of staff this evening. It is also particularly poignant that one specific cohort of new recruits who joined together over 20 years ago still remain within the organisation – a collective contribution of 120 years of service to Guernsey and they are all receiving their long service medals this evening. I hope we can replicate this achievement with other cohorts in years to come. But congratulations to all the recipients, it’s a mark of phenomenal vocational dedication to our community across public service.”

Chief Fire Officer Jon Le Page said: “It is a privilege to see firefighters receive these long services awards in recognition of all they have done for the community in their many years. This is a job which places you at the very heart of emergencies the island has to face – from the major to the minor. It is a unique and vital career, and a huge congratulations to everyone who received the medal.”

Acting Prison Governor John De Carteret said: “Prison is a key part of justice in Guernsey and requires staffing 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It is a demanding career and I am hugely proud that one of my early items as Acting Prison Governor is to see my longest serving staff rewarded for all the hard work, effort, professionalism and dedication they bring to the role every single day.”
