Passport fees for people in Guernsey will rise by around 10%, with the new charge being applicable from June.

It currently takes between six and eight weeks for a passport application to be processed.

A standard adult passport will cost £93, up from £85, while a fast track will cost £155 compared to £142. A standard child passport rises to £64 from £58.50 and a fast track will cost £126, compared to £122.

The price hikes follow the UK increasing new passport fees in February, the first rise since 2019.

Bailiwick Law Enforcement said the new fees bring prices in line with the UK and other Crown dependencies.

It urged people to check the expiry date of their passports, because many countries require them to be valid for three to six months beyond the intended date of departure.

The UK offers discounts for online applications, which are not mirrored in Guernsey, for a standard passport this takes the price down to £82.50 for an adult version.

The Guernsey Passport Office is open from 8.45am to 12pm Monday, Tuesday and Friday and from 8.45am to 4pm on Wednesday and Thursday.
