Artwork created by islanders has gone on display outside of the former L’Eree Bay Hotel, as part of Guernsey Mind’s ‘Express Yourself’ campaign.

Earlier in the year, Sian Jones and Guernsey Mind setup five blank canvases for Arts Sunday, and invited the public to add anything colourful they wished to.

“It was great to see the amount of people that participated, and the various ages,” Ms Jones said.

“Some people said, ‘oh I can’t paint’, but it was interesting to see, once they had a paintbrush in their hand, how much they actually enjoyed doing it. It was lovely to see people of all ages adding their contribution to what is a celebration of life in Guernsey this summer.”

The canvases have been placed onto vinyl and placed on the boards outside the former L’Eree bay hotel, owned by the RED Fund. Dowding Signs have supporting the project by adding the words ‘one day at a time’ beneath each of the boards.

Ms Jones hopes they will bring some joy to islanders in a strange festive season.

“While Christmas is a happy time, there are lots of people who can’t be with loved ones, so I hope it brings cheer. My thanks to RED fund for being so helpful.”

Andrew Haining, Chairman of RED fund, said this was the first time they had installed art on any of their boardings, and hoped islanders would appreciate it.

“We thought Sîan’s idea was inspirational, and hope that this inspiration will help to highlight the really important work that Guernsey Mind carries out in our community.”
