Who wants to be a millionaire?

Thursday 19 December 2019

By the end of the day one lucky Channel Islander will become a millionaire.

The Channel Island Christmas Lottery will be drawn in Jersey at 18:00, and will once again be broadcast live on ITV Channel TV.

This year, for the first time, one ticket is guaranteed to win £1million, while others will walk away with prizes of between £500 and £50,000.

Despite that, ticket sales are said to be down compared to previous years.

Formerly, the top prize had started at £300,000, which would continue to rise as tickets were sold. This year, however, organisers think the lack of prize updates could have had an impact on sales.

There is still time to grab some last minute tickets though ahead of the draw this evening and, if ticket sales reach the 200,000 mark, more £1,000 prizes will be added.

As usual, local charities across the islands will benefit from the profits and can apply for funding now.
