Planners have approved a change of use for a retail store on the Bridge so it can become a wine-tasting bar and off licence.
9, The Bridge is currently a vintage shop occupying two floors, but now it can be converted into a destination for wines with private seating boasting views over St Sampson’s marina.
Wine can be sold on both floors, with private seating areas for drinking and a table for wine tasting events.
The Planning Service said the change was unlikely to impact on the conservation area the building falls within and said the new business would “help contribute to the vitality and viability of the centre and the evening economy”.
A separate application is required to update signage advertising the business.
Environmental Health raised no objections to the plans.
