Carnival acts cut short by Condor

Friday 26 July 2019

The last day of the Town Carnival will have to be cut short after Condor made some last minute changes to its sailing times.

A number of UK musicians were due to perform tomorrow but, due to "essential maintenance", the ferry company has revised its schedule.

What could be the last Town Carnival began two weeks ago and has featured a variety of local and visiting acts including Il Destino, Sound of Steel and The Western Valley Hot Club.

Executive Officer of the Town Centre Partnership, Jack Honeybill said he was "very disappointed at the premature end to the fantastic entertainment provided by the departing acts".

St Peter Port will still be alive with music though as local acts have stepped in to fill the gaps.

The changes will see The Western Valley Hot Club begin their set at 10:30 outside the Town Church and play for one hour only. Meanwhile Punch & Judy will do just two shows at 10:00 and 11:00, with the clowns Sonny and Silky performing between the puppet shows. Sound of Steel will start at 09:30 and perform two 45 minute set finishing at 11:30.

Condor was unavailable for comment.
