Candie Christmas with Guernsey French carols

Sunday 22 December 2019

There'll be a singalong of carols in Guernsey French this afternoon, as part of the final Candie Christmas event this year.

The run up to Christmas has seen Guernsey Museums put on events, including a Santa's Grotto throughout the month on Sundays leading up to December 25.

There will be festive fun for all ages at Candie this festive season.

Candie Christmas takes place every Sunday during December (except the 29th) at Guernsey Museum with a packed programme of seasonal things to see and do.

A unique Santa’s Grotto will be set up in the gardens, decorated especially for the occasion. A charge of £5 per child applies to the Grotto and includes a small gift.

Visitors of all ages will be invited to make their own seasonal decorations and cards. Children’s crafts will take place in the Discovery Room, while activities elsewhere are specifically aimed at older children and adults. For returning visitors, the crafts will vary.

As part of today's final instalment, there'll be festive family films showing in the Frossard Theatre all day, and there'll be a seasonal-themed trail in the Museum too.

Live music will take place in the galleries, along with storytelling with staff from Guille-Allès Library.

Vikki Gray of Visitor Services said they've tried to offer something different for families looking for festive fun.

"We like to think that Candie Christmas offers something different to other festive experiences. The museum galleries are a unique backdrop to some really special activities – such as printing your own cards or making Christmas tree decorations."

The Guernesiais carol service is due to start at 14:00 at Guernsey Museums, at Candie Garden.

There'll be sheets provided in both Guernsey French and English.
