Bus users can now once again check the location of their required service through the CT Plus website.
Environment & Infrastructure have welcomed the reinstatement, saying it will provide up to date information for passengers – particularly in the context of continuing service cancellations due to staff shortages or road closures.
CT Plus added that “roadworks diversions and temporary traffic signals can delay services, so the live tracker can reassure those planning to catch a bus that their bus is on its way”.
Deputy Lindsay de Sausmarez, President of E&I, said the operator had responded to its political demands to improve online services for customers.
“We have shared in the frustration from passengers about the lack of a live tracker, so we’re pleased the operator has responded to our request to make it available again," she said.
“Real-time information will help Guernsey continue to grow bus passenger numbers, which in turn helps to reduce the traffic on our roads and our carbon emissions and supports our local economy too.”
Guernsey's bus service was recently bought by international firm Tower Transit. It is owned by Australian conglomerate Kelsian with subsidiaries in Sri Lanka, London and otherd as well as now Guernsey and Jersey.
