Breaking down barriers for mental health

Saturday 18 January 2020

Supporting men with mental health is the inspiration behind Rebecca Gallienne's exhausting 24-hour run and "burpee-thon" this weekend, which is raising awareness and money for Guernsey Man Club.

Miss Gallienne is challenging herself to run from 09:00 on Saturday to 09:00 the next day on a treadmill at MyFitness Gym. To make things even harder, she is planning to do 50 burpees each and every hour.

Miss Gallienne has so far raised over £1,300 on her JustGiving page, on which she has commended the work done by Guernsey Man Club in creating a community for men to open up and share their experiences.

She has also written a poem encouraging us all to "smash down" the barriers to men opening up about their mental health health.

"I will keep moving never stop until the 24 hours is up," she wrote on her fund-raising page. "Guernsey Man Club is run by people with huge hearts and they have built a community of amazing people. I have been lucky enough to meet some of these guys and they are bloody heroes."
