Break-in at North Show leads to rabbit's death

Disappointed North Show organisers have appealed for information after the Fur & Feather tent was broken into leading to the death of one of the animals.

It happened overnight on Wednesday after the tent had been shut.

North Show vice president and show manager Josh Gabriel said it had been a sour point of what otherwise had been an amazing year for the show.

“It appears someone's managed to break-in and possibly mess around with some of the animals,” he said.

“During that time, unfortunately, it appears one rabbit was handled and their rear leg and spine was broken. Unfortunately they had to be put to sleep which is really, really disappointing that someone or some people thought it would be entertaining.”

The pet belonged to one of the committee members.
