Big Bike Film Night to showcase cycling in all its forms

Monday 01 April 2024

An evening featuring 10 short films will celebrate the joy of cycling.

The Big Bike Film Night will be held at the Princess Royal Centre for the Performing Arts on Tuesday 16th April at 18:30.

This year marks the film festival's 10th anniversary.

Phil Le Poidevin, Guernsey Bicycle Group Chairman, said: "Hosting the best cycling short films from across the globe in Guernsey for the Big Bike Film Night 2024 is an extraordinary chance to celebrate the joy, adventure, and inspiration that cycling brings into our lives."

“It's a celebration not just of cycling as a sport or hobby but of the transformative impact the humble bicycle can have on individuals and communities alike."

New Zealander Brett Cotter, who established BBFN, said: “Each year, I set out with just one goal; to bring together the best cycling short films from around the world to celebrate the fun, adventure, and inspiration bikes enable.

“The collection of films is based on a belief that the humble bicycle can improve our health, inspire and uplift people with where it can take us, connecting communities with stories that captivate us, stories that make us think, and most importantly of all inspiring us to get out and ride.”

With the Guernsey Bicycle Group's recent transition to official not-for-profit status, proceeds from ticket sales will be dedicated to furthering their mission of encouraging more people in the island to embrace cycling.
