Guernsey's Autumn Walking Festival returns this year with seven new routes that explore the "treasure trove" of history and beauty that is "on our doorstep".
The new walks include 'Monks, Pirates and Militia in the Fief de Blanchlande,' between Les Douvres and Saints Bay; and 'Good Ship Food Ship,' which explores the events of 27 December 1944, when islanders were brought life-saving supplies by the Red Cross 'Vega.'
The festival is organised by the Bailiwick of Guernsey's Guild of Accredited Guides with support from VisitGuernsey. It runs until 4 October.
There will be local guides at each of the walks offering the chance to learn more about the island's history - many at reduced prices, some charging only a small donation to local charities.
Gill Girard, Chair of the Guild of Accredited Guides, said she is "pleased with the support of VisitGuernsey and the commitment of the guides to offer a fantastic programme of guided walks to suit all levels and interests."
Carla Bauer, co-organiser of the festival, hopes that people will take this opportunity to "find out even more about the treasure trove on our doorsteps".
