Aurigny's new fares to take off next week

Thursday 19 April 2018

Aurigny's new "light", "smart" and "Flexi" fares are to be introduced next week, after some delays with the introduction of the airline's new website.

The new fare structures will see passengers able to book hand luggage only, or extra baggage allowance, depending on individual needs.

Aurigny website

Aurigny has said the new fares structure will be introduced in seven days’ time, on Thursday 26 April, giving customers "the ability to buy tickets that best fit their needs" with three separate categories.

The airline said customers will be able to save with a new, lower hand baggage only ticket, with two other fare options offering "extras to give customers more flexibility and choice." The three different fares structures are:

  • LIGHT - The new, lowest price hand baggage only fare for customers who want to add only the extras they need.
  • SMART - The bundled fare for travellers who want to save on the extras. Customers can travel with up to 23kg hold luggage, pick their own seats and avoid the £40 administration charge for changing flights in advance (any difference in the fare may apply). The SMART fare also offers free flight changes at the airport on the day of departure, up until an hour before the original departure time.
  • FLEXI - The maximum flexibility fare for total freedom with your travel plans. Customers have an increased baggage allowance enabling them to carry two pieces of hold luggage at up to 23kg each, full flexibility to change their flights without paying any extra (up until an hour before the original departure time) and the option to reserve any of the seats on the aircraft, including extra legroom. The FLEXI fare is fully refundable up to an hour before departure.

Aurigny has said until the new fares are actually introduced on 26 April. passengers can still make bookings as normal and their flights will not be affected by the changes. It is also important to note that the new fares are not being introduced on any Alderney, Southampton, Dinard or Grenoble services, or on “through” fares.

The new fares were first announced during 2017, but the introduction has been kept on hold until Aurigny's new website was up and running. That is now live and has been tested with passengers using it to book flights already.

Aurigny's Commercial Director, Malcolm Coupar, said: “We would like to thank all our customers for their patience ahead of this much-anticipated launch. We know many people have been eagerly awaiting the new fares and the hand luggage-only option and we are pleased we are now able to go live next week, without any further delay.

“We’d also like to thank customers for their feedback since the new website has gone live. This has helped to ensure that the move from the old website has gone smoothly and that any teething problems have been addressed."

Both the new website and the new fares structures have been designed to work together and Mr Coupar said they are a "key step forward for the airline" which will offer customers "far more choice and flexibility with their travel plans.”
