'Aurigny Aid' offers support

Any Aurigny staff who aren't needed for normal operations at the moment, because of the significantly decreased flight schedule, are instead offering help to people in the community.

The States owned airline has launched Aurigny Aid, so employees can lend a hand to those in isolation, businesses in need and anyone else struggling through the lockdown period.

"We hope the crisis will be short lived and we will all be back doing what we do best shortly, which is running our much loved community airline" said Aurigny Chief Executive, Mark Darby. "However, while our staff are not able to do their day to day jobs and are not being utilised elsewhere in the business, they are all keen to help out and keep busy during this difficult time, as long as we are able in line with the advice from the States."

Anyone in need of help from the team can register their request via the Aurigny website or call 268888. Staff will be answering the Aurigny Aid hotline every day between 08:00 and 18:00, and will be available to carry out tasks from 09:00 until 17:00.

The airline has vehicles ready for delivery and will carry out tasks in order of priority.

Staff will not be able to carry out any tasks that compromise their wellbeing, including transporting members of the community anywhere.

Employees won't deal with any monetary transactions but are happy to help by picking up pre-paid prescriptions and shopping, or dog walking and doing odd jobs for those who are self isolating and have no means of support from family and friends.

The workforce will also be available to help short-staffed businesses with short or longer-term positions.
