‘Impressions of Guernsey’ is an exhibition that has been launched by Art for Guernsey.
It’ll feature pieces of work by post-impressionist artist Dimitri Permiakov, who came to the island in 2018.
Jock Petitt from Art for Guernsey said: “Dima considers Guernsey as a second home, and people embrace him as one of our own. He’s given so much of himself through workshops and visits to schools, and he’s been a big part of our journey towards opening a gallery.
“The way Dima sees and portrays the island connects people to the landscapes they love, giving them a new appreciation of them.
“Dima, who paints in oils, works with an urgency that is rarely seen, with brush strokes that are snappy and intensive. In his schooling he was encouraged to produce work after work, and through that intensity he’s learned to trust his mark-making implicitly.”
‘Impressions of Guernsey’ consists of 75 pieces of work and is open to the public now until 22 July.
