The 28-year-old man who was driving the vehicle that crashed along Vazon on Tuesday evening has been arrested on suspicion of serious driving related offences.
A 19-year-old man, who was a passenger in the vehicle, died in the tragic car crash by the Rue de Goddards junction at around 23:30 on Tuesday.
"Two of the occupants involved in the collision remain in the Princess Elizabeth Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries," Guernsey Police said this afternoon of the car's other occupants.
"At this time, both are in a stable condition, and neither will be flown off island. The two other occupants suffered minor injuries and were released from hospital."
Pictured: Inspector Tom Marshall making a statement yesterday. It has been reiterated this afternoon that Guernsey Police is not yet able to confirm the identity of the deceased, as the authorities remain in discussion with the teenager's family.
What has not helped, police said, is the "misinformation" circulating on social media with regards to this investigation, including the suggestions online that a second person has died.
"This is not the case," Guernsey Police said.
Enquiries are ongoing, and officers would like to hear from anyone who has any information regarding the incident. The contacts for the investigation are Inspector Tom Marshall or PC James De La Mare, and they can be contacted on 01481 222222, or information can be reported anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
