Captain Challinor, who grew up in Guernsey and Alderney, will be The King’s ADC. The position was previously held by Lieutenant Colonel Harry Poat, who assisted during the late Queen’s visit to Guernsey in 1978.  

Since joining the British Army in 2017 after attending the Grammar school and studying Conflict, Peace and Security at University, Captain Challinor has served in various international posts, including as Aide-de-Camp to the Deputy Supreme Allied Commander of NATO, and most recently in North Yorkshire serving as an Officer within the Corps of Royal Engineers.

Captain Challinor moved to Guernsey aged 10 and her family have been in the Bailiwick of Guernsey for more than 50 years. 

She has been invited to assist with the Royal visit by Guernsey’s Lieutenant-Governor: a fellow Royal Engineer, who served with Captain Challinor.  

He has expressed his gratitude to the Corps for releasing her for Their Majesties’ visit, and commented that “I am really delighted that Captain Challinor will join us. She will fulfil an important role in the formal ceremonies that Islanders will see performed here on Tuesday”. 

Captain Amy Challinor said she was “very much looking forward to the visit” and that “it’s an absolute honour to be invited to assist the Sovereign, especially in my home island”. 

Captain Challinor will assist The King when His Majesty presides over a special sitting of the States of Deliberation, followed by the paying of homage, which will take place on St Peter Port seafront.
