Preliminary works to prepare a La Charroterie site for future Guernsey Housing Association flats can be begin.
Approval has been given to fell five protected trees and stabilise the cliff face in anticipation of an outstanding application to construct a ten-storey building for 57 flats on the former CI Tyres site.
Planning said bat surveys must be carried out prior to the trees being felled, which should also be done before bird breeding season.
The GHA also plans to create pedestrian access to the site from a protected natural area above the site known as Montville Drive.
The trees in the area include Beech, Ash, Lime and Sycamore.
The application for the housing development is ongoing, in the site assessment phase. The last visit to the site was on January 29.
