Animal welfare focus of Seafront Sunday

The GSPCA will be promoting animal welfare at today's Seafront Sunday while celebrating all animals in Guernsey.

This will be the seventh Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday that has been held in St Peter Port, and Steve Byrne, Manager of the charity, said they were very busy with preparations ahead of today.

"With two cruise liners visiting with a combined possible 3100 visitors off the Serenissima and Prinsendam it is set to be a busy day," he said.

He added he hoped that with all of the stalls planned the day would be "great for all the family".

"We have performers entertaining the crowds which we are hugely grateful to all those involved, and between 12:00 and 13:00 we have Imogen Hayman joining us to entertain the crowds.

“Imogen can be seen busking from time to time and also helps out at the GSPCA as she is carrying out part of her Duke of Edinburgh at the Shelter.”

The Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday kicks off at 10:00 this Sunday with a chance to win £500 as well as other competitions.

Also appearing will be Daniel the Donkey and other local mascots, who will be taking part in a 5-a-side Giant Animal Mascot Football games with teams from the Plough Inn, Ravenscroft, Isabelle Vets; who are the reigning champions and a GSPCA team which Daniel will be on along with Bernard; the GSPCA Dog Mascot.
