Ambulance staff use “specially constructed cage” to carry out Alderney rescue

Friday 28 June 2024

An injured person on an Alderney building site saw ambulance and rescue teams having to think quickly to rescue them from roof height scaffolding.

On the morning of 27 June the crew were called out to treat the person and make them comfortable but were unable to transport them down a ladder.

The Alderney fire service assisted in constructing a cage “made secure using safety harnesses” to lower the person to the ground successfully.

They were transferred to Mignot hospital for further treatment.
