Almost 15% of Guernsey Post workforce isolating or sick

Saturday 08 January 2022

Guernsey Post is heading into another busy weekend, as staff sickness and isolation has taken almost 15% of its staff out of work.

Due to this high level of staff absence, Guernsey Post will be delivering on both Saturday and Sunday to make sure all islander’s post gets delivered.

The Chief Executive of Guernsey Post, Boley Smilie, said the public should see very little difference to the normal service.

“The team that are at work have done an incredible job and our customers will have seen very little difference other than perhaps some items taking a day longer than we would otherwise normally expect,” he said.

“Like many other businesses we are experiencing a high number of staff absent from work at the moment due to COVID and the associated isolation requirements.

“Almost 15% of our workforce are currently unwell or isolating and because of this it will be necessary for us to deliver on both Saturday and Sunday this week.”

Most absent staff tested positive over Christmas and its expected that nearly all will be back to work next week.
