Advocate joins ESC as non-voting member

Wednesday 20 January 2021

Education, Sport & Culture has appointed an experienced advocate as a non-voting member of the Committee.

Advocate Jason Green, who qualified as an advocate in 1996 and has been a partner of one of the island’s law firms since 2003, will fully participate in the work of the committee, but will not get a vote on its decisions.

As a partner at Collas Crill, Advocate Green oversees the firm’s corporate social responsibility activities, has been involved in a number of charitable organisations over the years and has significant experience in governance related matters.

"I’m very excited to have the opportunity to join the committee," Advocate Green said of his new challenge.

"Hopefully the experience I have gained throughout my career will provide value to the rest of the committee. There are big challenges ahead and I can’t wait to play my part in helping the committee address them."

ESC President Andrea Dudley-Owen said Advocate Green had been chosen for his experience in legal and other governance matters.

"At our first committee meeting we discussed the appointment of at least one non-voting member and all agreed that individuals from our community can bring significant skills and expertise to the work of a committee," she said.

"We were particularly keen to hear from people with experience in governance so were delighted that Jason came forward as part of the recruitment process and has now accepted our invitation to join the committee. As a leading advocate in the island, Jason will bring a wealth of experience to the table and will play an active and valuable role in all of our work. We’re delighted to welcome him to the committee."
