Roughly 7,000 people in the Bailiwick of Guernsey are eligible for the States of Guernsey covid spring booster programme.
Health professionals will begin the rollout of the booster programme in April, to those who fit in certain criteria. It comes more than a year after the island recorded its highest daily number of recorded cases.
While the States continue to wind down covid protocols - including stopping the provision of free lateral flow tests by 3 April - they are still minding advice generated by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).
Following a recent update from the JCVI the States have designated the following groups as eligible for the booster; adults aged 75 and older, care home residents and individuals aged 5 and over who are immunocompromised.
Following the success of the autumn booster programme, all vaccines will be administered through the GP practices (except for people who are homebound, or immunocompromised children between the ages of 5 and 11).
Additionally, the States said: “As per previous programmes, arrangements are being made to send the vaccine to the GP practice in Alderney and to deliver the necessary doses to Sark.”
The first clinics are expected to start on 3 April.
