Monday 12 February 2018

After 27 successful years of putting conservation back into the heart of the community, Insurance Corporation are again calling keen conservationists in the Channel Islands to enter their annual awards for the 28th year.

A diverse range of awards are up for grabs; including a total prize fund of £3,750, and the competition is open to all ages with entries sought from schools, individuals, businesses, leisure and conservation organisations.

In 2018 there will be several awards available:

Overall winner – receiving £1,500
Runner-up – receiving £1,000
Peter Walpole People’s Choice Award – receiving £500 (which is voted for by the public through Insurance Corporation’s website)
Young Conservationist of the Year Award – prize depends on size and scope of the project
The Best School Award – receiving £500

"Green issues that may have been considered alternative in the past are firmly in the mainstream now and we are proud to be pioneers among the corporate community for recognising the worth of funding positive achievements in this area," Mandy Hunt, Insurance Corporation's Managing Director said.

"We continue to be pleasantly surprised by the broad range of entries, the commitment put into projects and the wide age range of people taking part. This year we are again focusing on attracting even more young people to take part."

Where possible all shortlisted entries will be visited by a team of judges, which includes local environmentalists and representatives of the Insurance Corporation, who will choose the prize winners.

Entry forms are available from www.insurancecorporation.com and must be made by Sunday 29 April. Judging will take place on Wednesday 16 May.

The Insurance Corporation Conservation Awards culminates with the winners being announced at a lunchtime ceremony for all the shortlisted entrants on Thursday 20 June.
