Trust Corporation is changing its senior management structure to pave the way for future growth and development. Amit Taylor has been appointed to the newly-created role of Group Managing Director.

One of the company’s founders and former managing director, Michael Betley, will take on the new role of Executive Group Chairman and previous chairman Tim Betley will remain as a non-executive director.

“Having established Trust Corporation 10 years ago we appreciate the need to take stock and make strategic changes to the way we run our business, in particular if we are to continue to prosper as we have done.” said Mr Betley.

“We have successfully leveraged our private practice backgrounds and the management has grown up with the business. The next 10 years will be about remaining relevant and adapting to the fast-changing international business environment within which we operate.”

Mr Betley said that having a dedicated professional management team to operate the business and facilitate strategic decision making was its current imperative and Mr Taylor’s appointment was central to this. He has proven professional management capabilities and leadership skills which will challenge the current management and help further develop the business.

“Amit’s appointment will also allow the company’s founding practitioners to concentrate on their specialist practice areas as well as developing new business opportunities,” he said.

“Having a dedicated group managing director with proven professional management capabilities will enable the business to further develop its strategic plans and will provide a catalyst for strategic growth. Amit’s background and qualifications make him an excellent addition to our business and we look forward to working with him through this next phase in our business.”

Trust Corporation has built its reputation both on handling complex and demanding client matters and for its approach to servicing client relationships in which the client directors take direct ownership for, and have a hands-on approach to, day-to-day client matters.

A finance industry professional with 20 years’ experience, Mr Taylor moved to Guernsey in 2010 to become Managing Director of the securities services division of an international bank.

He has expertise in the development and implementation of strategic plans, sales and business development, business management and in driving change.

He is an economics graduate who went on to qualify as a chartered accountant. He began his career with PwC (previously Coopers & Lybrand) in London before moving into their specialist investment management consulting team. He subsequently joined HSBC where he was appointed Director of European Sales for HSBC Securities Services in London before moving to Guernsey as Managing Director of their fund administration and custody business.

Mr Taylor said: “Trust Corporation sets itself apart by its reputation for providing a high-quality and professional service to its clients. I am excited about the opportunities for Trust Corporation and look forward to working with the excellent team we have in place to further develop the business.”
