St John Health Care shop’s new van is out and about on Guernsey’s roads thanks to a generous donation from RBC Wealth Management.

RBC has agreed to fund the running costs of the van, which is being used to deliver supplies across the island from the Rohais-based Health Care shop, for the next three years.

Malcolm Mechem from the St John Ambulance and Rescue Service said: ‘We are heavily dependent on support from the community to keep us going, and the offer from RBC to meet the running costs of the van is a huge help. We managed to purchase this van second-hand and it comes with a tail lift which will be especially useful for lifting goods on heavy pallets. I’d also like to thank Image Group who provided their services for free in designing the imagery you’ll see on the van and IPS who printed and applied it to the van. It really gives islanders an idea of the various services St John provides.’

Lisa Barnett from RBC Wealth Management’s Guernsey Leadership Team said: ‘RBC is delighted to contribute to such a vital service for islanders, especially for those who rely on home deliveries. This commitment to St John is through our Donations Fund, which is open to smaller charities on the island that may be seeking a grant for specific projects.

‘Over the years, grants ranging from a few hundred pounds to several thousands have been donated to a variety of local causes and we are keen to do even more. We’re particularly keen to hear from Island-based initiatives focusing on youth and education, amateur sport or health and wellbeing, which are often under-funded.’

Requests for a grant from the RBC Wealth Management Donations Fund must include the charity’s name and registration number, details of the project for which a grant is intended and the requested amount.
