Students in Jersey have just a few weeks remaining to apply for the 2014 Jersey Society of Chartered and Certified Accountants (JSCCA) Bursary Scheme, which will close for applications on 14th March 2014.

Students in Jersey have just a few weeks remaining to apply for the 2014 Jersey Society of Chartered and Certified Accountants (JSCCA) Bursary Scheme, which will close for applications on 14th March 2014.

Launched in 2010, the Bursary is designed to financially assist Jersey students in attending an overseas university to study a business-related subject, with the selected student receiving up to £5,000 per annum for the duration of their 3 year degree.

Applications for this year’s Bursary will close on 14th March 2014, following which there will be an initial screening process. A number of applicants will then be called for interview, before ultimately selecting the successful student.

Last year, former Hautlieu pupil Connie Le Brocq was awarded the Bursary ahead of starting her three year degree in Business Management at Newcastle University, whilst former JCG student Amber Harding was also awarded an annual £1,000 Bursary to assist her in pursuing an Accounting and Finance degree at Exeter University.

Andrew Quinn, President of the JSCCA, commented:

“Since launching our Bursary four years ago, we have consistently had a good number of extremely high quality students applying, and all of our Bursary recipients have reported just how helpful it has been throughout their studies. We are committed to supporting our future local business leaders, and I would encourage any student who is considering a career in accountancy and wishing to study  a business-related degree this year to apply for the Bursary before our March deadline.”

Further information about the Bursary is accessible at www.jscca.org, where the application form is also available to download. Established in 1974, the JSCCA promotes and supports the accountancy profession in Jersey and has over 750 members from across different accountancy bodies.
