Leading offshore law firm Mourant Ozannes has announced it will sponsor an evening film screening of 'Elektro Moskva' as part of Jersey's 2014 Branchage festival. The popular annual arts festival which this year runs from 24th – 28th September, includes film, music, art, walks and events at venues and locations across the island.

'Elektro Moskva' (2013), a brand new documentary studying the Soviet electronic age and its legacy is described as an 'electronic fairytale' and is to be aired on the first night of the St Aubin film screenings on 25 September.

The story begins with the inventor of the world's first electronic instrument, Leon Theremin, unveiling the KGB's huge pile of fascinating devices, some of which were musical. They all came into existence as a by-product of a rampant defence industry.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film is a: "Droll and infectiously lively tribute to pioneers of futuristic sounds. The film has picked up numerous bookings around a festival circuit whose appetite for well-made, off-beat, music-themed docs remains ravenous."

Elektro Moskva will be introduced by arguably the most influential electronic musicians the British Isles have ever produced, the Radiophonic Workshop, famed for their landmark sound design and musical themes for Doctor Who, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Timewatch and Newsround. The screening will be followed by a Q & A with them.

Jonathan Speck, Managing Partner Jersey, commented: "We are proud to support this exciting event and to provide Jersey residents with such a unique opportunity to enjoy world cinema. Branchage is culturally a wonderful event for Jersey and we are delighted to be a part of a screening which is true to the heart of the festival."
Nina Hervé, Branchage’s Festival Manager commented: "We are extremely pleased that Mourant Ozannes have chosen to support the screening of this fascinating documentary and that they will be taking a place alongside Branchage in St Aubin’s Village, the main hub of this year’s festival. The ‘Elektro Moskva’ screening is one of over 60 events happening at Branchage this year, and we’re very excited about the festival getting underway in September. Passes are on sale now and include a bundle of discounts to be used at restaurants and businesses in St Aubin’s Village and I am pleased to say are selling fast. We would urge anyone who would rather reserve tickets in advance or enjoy the ability to roam the festival at their leisure to go online and purchase a pass soon."
