This Saturday both the AA Five Star Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa and the AA Four Silver Star L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa will join a host of top restaurants and hotels across the UK as they switch off their lights for Earth Hour.

The Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) has once again teamed up with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and is calling upon all restaurants to support this year’s Earth Hour event, which takes place on 25th March.

To mark the occasion, 3 AA Rosette restaurant, Tassili at Grand Jersey will be hosting a unique ‘dining in the dark experience’. Aimed to inspire diners to discover and appreciate different foods from a surprise seven course tasting menu. Blindfolds will be provided for a mouth-watering and unusual sensory experience.

Meanwhile, sister property four AA Silver Star L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa will be offering diners at The Grill a truly romantic ambiance as they enjoy an evening of candlelit drinks and dining from 6.30pm.

The World Wildlife Fund created the first ‘Earth Hour’ global environmental awareness event back in 2007 and last year a record-breaking 178 countries and territories took part in the event, including the International Space Station. The annual Earth Hour event has now become an annual occasion encouraging sustainable living and a global effort to fight climate change.

Martin Kelly, General Manager of Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa said, “We’re proud once again to support this initiative and be amongst thousands of hotels and restaurants, across the UK, and indeed the globe, who will all be joining forces to raise awareness of and take action towards climate change.”

Simon Miller, General Manager of L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa added, “In previous years famous UK landmarks such as Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge and Edinburgh Castle have all turned out their lights for Earth Hour. We are delighted to join them in 2017. Earth Hour is a chance for us to show we want to do our bit for the planet and we have no doubt that diners will enjoy an evening at The Grill, in a different yet magical way.”
