The Co-operative Medical Care’s growing medical and pharmacy team has moved to a new modern and ergonomically designed ‘Co-operative Medical Centre’. Joy Davies, who has been a patient of the David Place surgery for 29 years, officially opened the health centre, which is located on Bath Street at the former Blockbuster video store, today.

The 160 meters squared facility combines a large pharmacy and a brand new GP surgery with four modern, clean private rooms and a contemporary, family friendly reception area. The health centre offers patients a welcoming environment, with the added convenience of Medical and Pharmacy Locale being situated together to meet all patient’s needs in one place.

‘This new combined health centre will provide islanders with easier access to a range of services and support increased co-ordination between healthcare teams to improve patient outcomes. It’s a modern facility with up to date technology and is located at the heart of one of the most populated and accessible parts of the island. We’re delighted that the centre is now open and we’re looking forward to welcoming new and existing patients and partners through our doors,’ said Natalie Cross, Head of Care at The Channel Islands Co-operative Society.

The Bath Street Health Centre is open to all islanders, including those who are not Society members. However to receive free GP care for children under five years, discounts for five to 18 year olds and 4% dividend, the patient, a parent or guardian must be a member of the Society and be registered with Co-operative Medical Care. It costs £1 to become a member and new patients can join the Society at any Co-operative Medical Care surgery. A standard consultation fee is £30.

‘Since the launch of Co-operative Medical Care in 2014, a large number of people have enjoyed the benefits of accessing good value healthcare in convenient locations around the island. The new Bath Street Health Centre will provide more islanders with access to excellent health care from medical and pharmacy services, enabling patients to collect medication and prescriptions in one location,’ added Mrs Cross.

Sara Kynicos, Superintendent Pharmacist at Bath Street Health Centre, said: ‘The health centre will deliver a large number of services including smoking cessation and weight management support, blood pressure monitoring, vaccination clinics, child health checks and a range of other services that customer’s value. We are excited to be moving to a brand new, purpose built facility and want to continue to deliver an excellent service to both new and existing patients.’
