With an increasing reputation as a top destination for excellent food, Jersey can now offer visitors the opportunity to experience all four of the island’s Michelin-starred restaurants in one very special fine dining break. The Jersey Michelin Star Experience package combines a luxury stay at a choice of hotels with a chance to taste the cream of Jersey’s gourmet cuisine.
From this February, the Jersey Michelin Star Experience package will now include the latest location to receive a prestigious Michelin star accolade, Ormer by Shaun Rankin, with a seven-night option available for guests to savour the full range of Jersey’s finest restaurants in a luxury week-long gourmet break. The island’s four Michelin-starred restaurants; Bohemia at The Club Hotel, Ocean at The Atlantic Hotel, Ormer by Shaun Rankin and Tassili at Grand Jersey have all joined forces to promote the gourmet break, which has helped to attract new visitor markets since its launch as a three-night experience in autumn 2012.
Patrick Burke, Chairman of Luxury Jersey Hotels, said: ‘Jersey has so much to offer as a gastronomic destination, with an exceptional standard of fine dining in addition to the island’s top quality local produce and beautiful natural setting. We are delighted that our leading restaurants and skilled chefs are working together so successfully to offer visitors a curated tasting experience at the very highest level.’
Shaun Rankin, Chef Proprietor of Ormer Restaurant which was awarded a star in the 2014 Michelin Guide added: ‘We were thrilled to be recognised with a prestigious Michelin star just a few months after opening Ormer. Jersey is gaining serious attention now as a culinary destination and we intend to drive that process forward and reinforce the island’s food reputation. As someone who has championed Jersey produce and producers for over a decade, I personally couldn't be more proud about welcoming visitors to the island to taste the very best that Jersey has to offer.’
The Jersey Michelin Star Experience has previously only been available as a three-night stay at either Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa, The Atlantic Hotel or The Club Hotel & Spa, with dinner every night at a different Michelin-starred restaurant. This new week-long option enables gourmet visitors to experience all four of Jersey’s Michelin-starred restaurants during their stay, with a three-course à la carte dinner at each location; Ormer, Bohemia, Tassili and Ocean, included in the break. Costing from £375 for three nights and from £725 for the seven night / four dinner option, the break can be booked direct with each hotel or as a travel-inclusive package through Jersey and Guernsey’s leading tour operator, CI Travel Group.
This success of this initiative has been welcomed by Jersey Tourism, which recognises the importance of the island’s much-fêted gastronomy scene in attracting new visitor markets. David de Carteret, Director of Jersey Tourism, said: ‘Shaun Rankin has established an excellent reputation in Jersey as well as internationally through his television appearances, publishing and consistent Michelin star standard cooking. His involvement with the Luxury Jersey Hotels consortium will enhance the impact of this promotion across our food-related target audiences.’
