Acclaimed chef Mark Jordan from The Atlantic Hotel’s Michelin-starred Ocean Restaurant in Jersey has been chosen to cook at the prestigious Food and Travel Reader Awards 2016 in London.
The executive head chef at The Atlantic Hotel will be cooking for 180 people after the hotel was recognised as a stand-out winner in the 2015 awards. Mark will be cooking alongside Michel Roux Jnr, of Le Gavroche, at the event at the Royal Automobile Club in London on 12 September.
The news comes as islanders are being urged to vote for The Atlantic Hotel again as it bids to be named as the ‘Best International Hotel’ in the Food and Travel Reader Awards 2016 for the second year running. The awards are renowned within the travel industry, and the winner will be decided through an online vote on the Food and Travel Magazine website, http://foodandtravel.com/awards. Voting ends on Thursday 1st September.
Owner and Managing Director of The Atlantic Hotel, Patrick Burke, said: ‘Mark Jordan is a great chef who takes his inspiration from Jersey, and he is helping us propel the island to the culinary top table. It’s a tribute to Mark’s growing reputation that he’s been asked to cook at these awards, and the fact that we’re on the shortlist for the Best International Hotel award again is thanks to the dedication of the whole team at The Atlantic Hotel who work so hard to look after each and every guest.
‘Winning again would be brilliant for Jersey and of course for the hotel. Islanders can vote for The Atlantic Hotel by visiting the Food and Travel Reader Awards website. We are going all out to repeat last year’s success and really do appreciate everyone’s support,’ added Mr Burke.
The Atlantic Hotel is up against five other hotels from around the world for the Best International Hotel award after thousands of hotels nominated by the public were whittled down to a shortlist by an expert judging panel. They are Aristi Resort (Greece), Gran Hotel Son Net (Majorca), LUX Belle Mare (Mauritius), The Yeatman (Portugal) and Trisara (Thailand).
