A team from one of the island’s leading trust, fund and corporate services providers, First Names Group, will be swapping their office desks for the streets of London next month to raise valuable funds for Headway Jersey.

They will join soap stars, sporting heroes, musicians and some of Britain’s most famous TV presenters as well as many others taking on the challenge of running the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon on 23 April for their chosen charities.

Headway Jersey is this year celebrating its 20th anniversary of delivering its services to islanders. Their theme of the year is ‘overcoming the challenge’, and the London Marathon demonstrates a fine example of this. The team at First Names Group has been busy preparing for their run, not only training hard and fundraising to hit their targets but also understanding more about why Headway Jersey is so important to the lives of many on the island.

Ray Cooper, the CEO of Headway Jersey, is delighted by the support being shown as he explains:

“We are in awe of the runners and dedication shown by our friends at First Names Group.

Fundraising can have such an impact to the lives of many. For all the team at First Names Group the personal achievements and memories will stay with them forever. The same goes for everyone connected at Headway Jersey, especially those who see members of their community going that extra mile for them. We will be cheering them home on 23rd April!”

Ben Newman, Managing Director of First Names Group in Jersey further commented:

“On behalf of First Names Jersey I’m delighted that our business is supporting such a worthwhile local cause. At First Names Group, we pride ourselves on our commitment to our people, clients and the communities in which we operate, so this activity reflects our DNA perfectly. I am so proud of each of our ‘First Names’ running the event and hope their athletic and fundraising efforts make a real difference for Headway Jersey.”

The ‘First Names’ team heading to the UK capital to take on the challenge are Andrew de la Haye, Vanessa Ferreira, Greig Higgens, Emma Godfrey, Katie Mitchell and Matt Haynes. Nigel Godfrey and Anna Tredant (who have both previously run the London Marathon) have been supporting and guiding the team and will also be with the runners for the marathon weekend in London.

The majority of the team leave for London on Friday 21 April and Headway Jersey will be tracking their runners on the day and updating their achievements via social media on the day of the London Marathon. The money that is raised will go towards the running of the services delivered at Headway Jersey as the charity continues to expand its reach to help more islanders.
