A new route to creating business relationships with companies based in Jersey and off-island was opened last week when over 160 business leaders attended the island’s inaugural Private Client Dining Club event at the Royal Yacht Hotel.

Sponsored by UBS, Private Client Dining Club brings together people representing all aspects of the finance industry, including law firms, trust companies, accountants and investment managers, so they can build the first bridges that may lead to long-lasting relationships.

Crucially, invitees are drawn from jurisdictions outside of the Channel Islands and Jersey’s first event, which was the best attended of any PCD event to date, included representatives of businesses in London, Singapore and Switzerland.

“The response to our first event in Jersey has been fantastic and shows just how well regarded the island is among financial sector experts around the world,” said David Bell, Founder of Private Client Dining Club.

“When we spoke with UBS about the possibility of holding an event in Jersey, we were delighted that they also saw the potential for helping local businesses by putting them in touch with company representatives from outside the island. I don’t think any of us quite expected the event to become the largest we have staged to date.”

As one of Jersey’s longest-established wealth management companies, UBS plays a leading role in supporting the island’s finance sector.

“One of my colleagues attended a Private Client Dining Club event in London and immediately saw the potential for holding a similar event in Jersey,” said Michael Clarke, Head of Private Clients at UBS.

“We could not have foreseen the popularity of the first event and are delighted that so many island businesses have taken the opportunity to meet with representatives of firms based around the world. There’s no doubt that this first evening has been a great success and we look forward to working with David in order to make PCD an annual feature in Jersey’s business calendar.”
