Families whose children will be spending this Christmas in the care of the Special Care Baby Unit at Jersey’s General Hospital will receive some special festive treats thanks to the generosity of Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa.
Last Friday a basket jam packed with Christmas goodies put together by Nicolas Valmagna, Executive Chef at the AA five star St Helier hotel was delivered to the family room within the Special Care Baby Unit, for the siblings and family members to enjoy over the Christmas holiday. Along with a selection of jams, marmalade and black butter, the families can also tuck into sweet treats such as fudge and homemade cookies along with nuts and a selection of dried fruits.
Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa has organised this special surprise as part of its on-going support for the local charity Friends of SCBU. The hotel, with the help of its generous guests has raised over £17,000 in the past three years and will continue to support Friends of SCBU through 2017.
Commenting on this, the latest in a series of initiatives to raise both funds and awareness of Friends of SCBU, Martin Kelly General Manager of Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa said, “We have been supporting local charity Friends of SCBU for some time now, not only raising funds but also seeking opportunities where we can help out or bring a smile to those families who are using the unit. We hope that this small gesture goes some way to help families enjoy Christmas at what must be a challenging time.”
Friends of SCBU is a charity dedicated to raising funds for Jersey’s Special Care Baby Unit. The unit provides essential treatment for premature and sick babies in the island.
