We can’t think of a better way to raise money for charity than enjoying an exclusive champagne cream tea in the beautiful surroundings of Longueville Manor!

On Thursday 23rd March, 55 amazing people did just that, in support of the Jersey Child Care Trust (JCCT), and attended Jersey’s first ever Champagne Cream Tea for JCCT!  Whilst enjoying their Champagne Cream Tea, guests heard more about the work of the charity and the difference that it makes locally for children and their families.  They also saw the work of the JCCT in action with the premiere of ‘This is Teddy’ featuring Teddy, who is nearly 4 years old and has Autism.  He is supported in his nursery thanks to Emily, who is employed by the JCCT.

The charity, that turns 20 years old this year, wanted to launch a new way to put the ‘fun’ into fundraising.

‘I haven’t met anyone who doesn’t enjoy a good Jersey Cream Tea’ said Fiona Vacher, Executive Director of the JCCT ‘and we know that there are lots of people who are keen to support our work.  ‘Cream Tea for JCCT’ is a brilliant way for the community to raise vital funds to help us to help others’.

The event at Longueville Manor provided a launch for a far bigger fundraising event taking place throughout May in people’s homes, workplaces and businesses.  It’s called ‘Cream Tea for JCCT’ and guests were invited to host their own ‘Cream Tea for JCCT’ during May in their homes, workplaces and businesses.

The event really sparked the imagination of the guests with a real range of types of Cream Teas for JCCT.  For example small, exclusive cream teas for about 8 friends were planned alongside big Cream Tea for JCCT events for 100+ guests in private homes!

Free fundraising packs will be posted to them in April and include the Longueville Manor Scone Recipe, information about the JCCT, a collecting box for donations and top tips to hosting their cream tea.

Fiona continues ‘At the launch event, we were also thrilled to learn some top scone making tips from Executive Chef, Andrew Baird and during his scone making demo you could hear the guests saying ‘aha, so that’s how it’s done!’  We have taken notes and so will include these top tips in the host’s fundraising packs!’

To find out what these top tips are, simply register as a host of a ‘Cream Tea for JCCT’ with the charity and you will receive your free Fundraising pack during April.  Call 629901 or email info@jcct.org.je to register as a Cream Tea for JCCT host.
