19 college and university graduates from Jersey, Guernsey and the UK have started client work with Deloitte as they commence three and four-year training contracts with the firm.

All trainees have already completed a month of office and college-based learning to give them essential knowledge and skills.  The initial training course is designed to ensure they are settled into the business and have built strong relationships with their mentors, appraisers and buddies before they commence client work.

Deloitte’s Talent Partner John Clacy said: “We invest heavily in our people to ensure that from the outset they have a very positive working experience with us. From learning their initial roles to building an understanding of our clients’ industries, we have structured week-by-week programmes and support in place to give them the best possible to start to their careers with us, so they can quickly grow in skills, knowledge and confidence.

“Our training routes are designed to meet the individual study styles, maturity and experience of our college and graduate trainees and our programmes can flex as they progress according to their needs.”

This year’s audit trainees in Guernsey are: George Melhuish, local to Guernsey, who attended University of Edinburgh studying Politics, Economics and Social History; Charlotte Blinkhorn who studied Accounting and Management at University of Durham; Christina Seed and Robert Shutie who both attended University of Warwick, studying Biomedical Science and Chemistry respectively.

Joshua Furlong and Jack Whyte who have family living locally are joined by Edward Osborne. Edward attended University of Cambridge Robinson College studying Classics, Josh studied Accounting and Finance at Heriot-Watt University and Jack attended University of Bristol studying Physics.

Completing the Guernsey Audit peer group is Lee Sunderland who attended University of St Andrews studying Chemistry.

2015’s Advisory recruit is Max Tremlett, who is returning home after attending University of Surrey where he studied Economics.

Joining the Guernsey Tax team are Daniel Miller who attended University College London studying Chemistry and Morgan Harries who studied Physics with Medical Physics Cardiff University. Both are from the UK but have local connections.

Andrew Gamble and Jacques Ogier join the Guernsey office as gap year students. Both are local to the island having previously attended Elizabeth College. The pair will benefit from Deloitte’s internal training programmes before starting university in 2016.
