Sure has extended its Random Acts of Kindness initiative and this year more than 2,000 islanders will receive an unexpected gift including croissants, fuel, cakes, flowers, films, personal gifts and flights.

Random Acts of Kindness is a worldwide initiative, which encourages people to step out of their normal routine and attempt a random act of kindness.

This year’s Random Act of Kindness Week is from 10 – 16 February but Sure decided to extend its to six weeks.

‘We originally started with just a day but it has evolved over the past five years. Over the years, we have done all sorts of things from sending flowers, paying for people’s shopping, covering the cost of meals at restaurants and handing out free hot drinks and this year is no different,’ said Sure’s marketing and PR manager Jessica Bisson

Since Sure launched its Random Acts of Kindness on 21st January, more than 500 croissants have been handed out to secondary school students, as well as water bottles to gym users at Beau Sejour.

A Facebook campaign has also been launched where islanders can say how they would spend £10 or £20 and recipients will be chosen over the next month.

‘Sure plays an active role in supporting the community within the islands and it’s hoped that our efforts will encourage others to do the same. Even the smallest of efforts can make someone’s day,’ said Miss Bisson.

‘We are hoping to reach all sectors of the community with a host of little gifts, such as free chocolate bars and flowers to driving lessons and cinema vouchers.’
