The Youth Commission celebrated its services by holding an end of Summer barbeque for young people who access their services, groups and clubs as well as members of the wider public.
The annual event held at the Charity’s head office is designed to showcase the many projects that the Youth Commission offer young people and was a huge success. The event, kindly sponsored by Aon Guernsey, had over 200 children and young people in attendance along with 150 adults joining in the many free activities on offer.
There was an opportunity to try out a wide variety of activities, from face painting to archery, dream catchers to DJ skills and the chance to bounce around on several inflatables. The Youth Commission’s vision is a Bailiwick where all children and young people are ambitious to reach their full potential by putting children at the centre of the charities work.
Charlie Cox – Chief Executive Officer for the Commission said “The aim of our annual BBQ is to offer a free family day out with lots of activities for children and young people. We are only able to do this thanks to Aon generously supporting the event. It was heart-warming to see so many families join us and learn more about the Youth Commission services. Although lots of people have heard of us, most people are surprised by the variety of different services we offer in the community. From Duke of Edinburgh to Holiday Playscheme, Emotional Support to Youth Clubs, everything was showcased.”
Glyn Smith, Executive Director, Aon Guernsey added “Aon Guernsey are always proud to support local community initiatives that enable our local families to enjoy a day out. The event had a wide range of activities aimed for children of all ages, which showcased what the Youth Commission have to offer our local youth”
