The Nature Commission is inviting owners of land that is accessible to the public to apply for financial support from the Storm Ciarán Recovery Fund. This funding is available for woodland management projects, including tree planting.
Storm Ciarán caused a huge amount of damage when it hit Guernsey at the start of November 2023. This storm was the worst our island had seen in many decades with over 350 trees being lost in gale force winds.
The States of Guernsey provided £15,000 for the Storm Ciarán Recovery Fund in recognition of the damage caused to woodlands which islanders enjoy all year round. In addition, a further donation has been provided by a very generous, corporate donor. The Nature Commission is pleased to be administering the Fund that now totals £35,000.
Enhancing Guernsey’s natural environment for people is at the heart of the Nature Commission’s work and the Storm Ciarán Recovery Fund will provide financial support for projects that will focus on nature in publicly accessible areas. These projects may include tree planting and/or woodland management and all projects will need to be completed by the end of March 2025.

The application deadline is Sunday 18th February.
Projects will need to be completed by the end of March 2025.
