St Peter Port parish elections are back with a second election due to take place in December.

The parish will be holding another meeting on Wednesday 8 December to determine who will take up the roles of Constable and Douzenier after they were vacated by Dennis Le Moignan who retired in October. The yearlong posts will commence on 1 January 2022.

Constable Zoe Lihou said that after the success of the recent elections she hoped more people would be spurred on to put themselves forward.

"The last round of elections was really successful with some excellent candidates. It is my hope that this will encourage others to put themselves forward and join our team.

"The fact that both posts are for the term of one year allows whoever stands the opportunity to have a go at the roles and see what being on the Douzaine is all about. It would be my ambition that they would then stand again in next year’s election.

"Don’t assume that you won’t have the skill sets required to take on either position. We aim to be as representative as possible and believe that everyone has something to offer. All you really need is a pragmatic approach and a can-do nature."

The deadline for those hoping to stand for Constable or Douzenier is Monday 29 November at 4pm and nomination forms can be collected from the St Peter Port Constables’ office or downloaded from the website www.stpeterport.gg

The parish meeting will take place in the Harry Bound Room at Les Cotils at 7:30pm on Wednesday 8 December 2021 and is open to all St Peter Port residents. Please note that to vote you must be registered on the electoral roll. You can check if you are registered by contacting anne.cann@gov.gg
