St James benefits from new lighting

St Peter Port’s skyline has been enhanced by the installation of up-lighting to one of the town’s most impressive and historic buildings.

St James Concert and Assembly Hall, a former garrison church dated back to 1818, provides Guernsey with one of the largest auditoriums in the island, playing host to an array of performances and events.

Refurbishment of the up-lighting to the dome of the building has allowed this venue’s offering to be even more spectacular, enhancing the east side of the skyline with a series of cost-effective LED lights that will illuminate the sky from dusk until midnight 365 days of the year.

The enhancement to the building has been made possible by the Town Centre Partnership and building company C.A. Duquemin.

Jack Honeybill, the Town Centre Manager in association with the Town Centre Partnership, said: “C.A. Duquemin has helped us make it possible to enrich what is already a beautiful building.”

Kirstin Simon from St James said: “With the introduction of cost-effective LED lighting we are able to show off St James and at the same time help to enhance St Peter Port. This is another great initiative from the Town Centre Partnership and our thanks must go to them and to our long-term supporters C.A. Duquemin for making this happen for everyone’s enjoyment.”
