The spirit of Christmas will return to St Saviour’s next month as plans for the Specsavers’ Winter Wonderland get underway.
Taking place on Wednesday 4 December from 6pm to 8.30pm, the popular spectacle is expected to attract more than 3,000 visitors to the grounds of the Bachmann’s family home to view the festive lights.
Joys Events has taken on the major role of light design and displays again this year. The laser show will be back while the magical elf trail will also make a return along with a special appearance from Father Christmas.
All money raised at the event will be split between the Lions Club of Guernsey and Autism Guernsey.
Rob Holder, Lions Club of Guernsey says: 'This event plays an important part in the build up to the Christmas festivities. It is a wonderful way of combining the anticipation and excitement of the season with raising funds for important local charities.'
Specsavers will be providing free buses from the company’s car park and to help ease congestion, especially around the La Villiaze area, members of the public will also be able to use Le Rondin School’s car park. Buses will run from 5.30pm from both venues shuttling people back and forth to the venue.
People are advised to bring a torch and car share where possible.
Co-founder Dame Mary Perkins says: ‘The event not only signals the start of Christmas for many islanders, but also raises essential funds for those in need at this time of year. Tickets are priced at £7 for adults and £3 for children aged 3 to 12. They are available from: Stan Brouard, Earlswood Garden Centre, Creaseys (Le Bordage and the Bridge
stores), Woodies (Le Pollet and Bordeaux kiosk), St Peter’s Post Office, Forest Store and Specsavers La Villiaze office.
