After a prolonged and overly wet winter, the Guernsey Street Festival (GSF) team are excited to begin our summer season of events from this Sunday 5th May.

The afternoon will see live music brought to Candie Gardens once again, as the Big Band Collective perform the first of our weekly Candie Concerts from 3pm.

Then we’re heading to Les Cotils for our annual fundraiser quiz, where our dynamic duo of hosts Michael P Sullivan and Matt Judge will once again put islanders’ general knowledge to the test - for an evening of delicious street food, great entertainment and assorted prizes.

For such a small island, Guernsey is packed full of talented artists of all genres - a boon that ought to be shared and celebrated with the rest of the community.

Thanks to the generous sponsorship from The Sarnia Memorial Trust, The GSF team are able to put on the weekly Candie Concerts from May to September. This ensures the concerts themselves are free to the public, while also ensuring the performers are paid a fair fee.

It is important to us that the concerts are free of charge, as this ensures they are accessible to everyone. It is also essential that the performers are paid, as recognition of the amount of talent and skill that goes into these fantastic performances.

Guernsey Street Festival Founder, Claire Dawson, says “We love organising the Candie Concerts each year. The style of music on offer varies each week and there is always a great atmosphere.

“We had an extraordinarily successful year in 2023, with record numbers of people attending and giving donations to make sure these concerts continue year on year. It’s a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon, and we were so lucky not to have had to cancel a single one last year due to poor weather.”
