Today, the States of Deliberation has approved the appointment of Sir de Vic Carey, Jurat Stephen Jones and Mr Graham Daldry as the three members of the Campaign Group Assessments Panel. This Panel will review and assess applications made by groups wishing to be appointed as a campaign group in advance of the referendum on the method of electing People’s Deputies to the States of Deliberation on 10th October, 2018.

Deputy Peter Roffey, President of the States’ Assembly & Constitution Committee said;
“The Committee is pleased the States has agreed the appointment of the Campaign Group Assessments Panel as recommended.

Prospective groups and interested persons are reminded they have until noon on Friday 25th May, 2018 to submit their applications to be a campaign group.

Applications can be made online at www.gov.gg/referendum by either completing the online application form or downloading the word version of the application form.”

At the public meeting on 16th April, 2018, some attendees asked how they could get in touch with other people interested in forming a campaign group for an option.

Deputy Roffey said;
“If members of the public want their interest in forming or joining a campaign group to represent an option published on www.gov.gg/referendum , to enable individuals and groups to coalesce, they should e-mail the Lead Referendum Officer, and we will update the website accordingly. We will also update the website confirming when a formal application for an option has been submitted and by whom.”

The Committee has published guidance notes “Applying to be a campaign group” and “Referendum expenses: Guidance for campaign groups” which are available to download at www.gov.gg/referendum . It has also published the presentation given at its public meeting on Monday 16th April, 2018 on the same page. Anyone who missed the opportunity to attend can view the streamed presentation and Q&A session on www.facebook.com/govgg

Anyone seeking further information regarding applying to be a campaign group, or the referendum more generally, should contact Ms E Dene, the Lead Referendum Officer, at referendum@gov.gg or by telephone on 717284.
