Ogier employees have raised over £5,600 for Young People Guernsey which was their nominated charity for 2014.
Each year, staff at the law firm undertake a number of fund raising activities such as raffles, sweepstakes for sporting events and cake sales. There was also an auction of a number of prizes at the staff summer ball and a charity quiz night hosted by the firm.
The partners of Ogier doubled the sum raised by staff to reach the final total of £5,622.
Young People Guernsey is a local charity that identifies and responds to the needs of young people in the Bailiwick, particularly those in need, and ultimately those at risk. In partnership with Barnardo´s, the UK´s largest children´s charity, YPG opened a youth information, advice and listening support centre, called “The Hub” in St. Peter Port for young people which was a ground-breaking venture for Guernsey.
In addition to the financial contribution, three of Ogier’s employees, Prabha Sasidharan, Emma Hill and Charlotte Brown, volunteered to be mentors for the charity, which required training and giving up their time on a regular basis to assist at The Hub.
The firm has also donated a number of computer systems and other IT equipment to the charity.

We've had a lot of fun raising the money throughout the year and are pleased to have a substantial sum to donate to YPG. I would like to thank the members of our Charity Action Group for all their hard work, and also our clients and contacts who attended our charity quiz night for their support in our fund raising efforts.”
Karen Gamble, Treasurer of YPG, said: “We are extremely grateful to all of the Ogier staff for their support this year and for their generous donation. The Hub’s running costs are approximately £165,000 per year and we have to raise this sum through charitable donations, fundraising and grants. The support of Ogier this year has been invaluable and we would like to thank Ogier for choosing to support YPG and The Hub again this year.“
