The Guille-Allès Library will be open as normal again from Saturday 20 June.
During Phase 4 the Library has been open with some restrictions, but the move to Phase 5 will see a return to normal opening hours and no more need for social distancing. In addition to borrowing and returning, all other services will resume, including events, study space, and children’s activities, and community libraries will re-open.
Laura Milligan, Chief Librarian, said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming more people back to the Library. It will be great to see families back in the Children’s Library and to offer our full range of services once again.”
During lockdown the Library has been running a free home delivery service, bringing books, DVDs and jigsaws to hundreds of households. This service will continue in Phase 5 for the benefit of people shielding or self-isolating. Anyone in these groups can request a free delivery at www.library.gg/deliveries or by phoning the Library on 720392.
Lockdown also saw a marked increase in usage of the Library’s digital collections, with a 30% rise in eBook and audiobook downloads, as well as steep increases in checkouts of digital magazines and newspapers. All these digital collections, as well as the latest information about library services and opening hours, can be found at www.library.gg
